Cassandra Ford was born in Manila, the Philippines. Her family then moved to the Isle of Wight, where she attended convent school, the family then later moving to Vancouver, where she attended private school.
Before becoming seriously involved with The Vincent Black Shadow, she was a game tester for EA Sports, of which experience she said, "I never considered it an actual job, I sort of fell into it through friend of mine who got me an interview there."[4]
Cassandra has had a long musical history with Rob Kirkham. Before forming The Vincent Black Shadow, her talents were first called upon in the Southeast Asia, when Universal Philippines invited her down for a record deal – when they scrapped all the music she had created with Kirkham, she realized they were not interested in her real talent, but simply wanted to turn her into yet another Asian pop star. After reconnecting with Kirkham back in Vancouver, they then signed with Bodog Music which released their first album which was released 11 July 2006, as well as their second album, which was released 15 September 2008.[5]
Ford is a painter and visual effects artist as well as a singer, though she first came to public attention as a singer. Recently she has been published as an illustrator in the book BEASTS!2 which was published by Fantagraphics books (Seattle). For this publication she was also part of a group art show at the GIANT ROBOT gallery in San Francisco with the likes of such artists as Tony Millionaire, Lily Carre and James Jean. Ford is also represented by Vancouver based agency Play Management for voice over. Recent projects include Pirates of the Caribbean:Armada of the Damned for Disney Interactive Studios, and several independent short animations.
